Perceptual space is space that is directly experienced in day to day life as a kind of physical configuration. This space is perceived in that it can be sensed directly, and is open to measurement, description, and physical scrutiny. Perceptual space is that of the building, the courtyard, the GUI. Attributes of this second element correspond to the representations of space that are presented by specific societies in their specific forms of representation. This is the space made physically manifest by the planners, and is in turn arbitrarily represented by the conventional program of codes, maps and blueprints that conceived space consists of.
